The attendance by hundreds of Coloradans at this critical hearing would send a strong message to the ECMC commissioners regarding the community’s commitment to protecting our health, safety, and overall quality of life.

We Are Powerful Together

All three days of the hearing will be open for public viewing by Zoom meeting.
Wednesday, Nov 19, approximately 11am start: Public comments accepted virtually (Wednesday Agenda)
Thursday, Nov 20, approximately 10:30am start : STAR and Crestone (Civitas) present their cases (Thursday-Friday Agenda)
Friday, Nov 21, 9am start: Hearing completion, commissioners deliberate and make their decision.

The outcome of the Sunlight-Long decision will have profound, life-altering effects on our community.

The Sunlight-Long well pad is nearing the final stages of approval. This proposed 32 well pad spans 35 acres and is located just 0.6 miles from the nearest Southshore homes and the Aurora Reservoir, bringing fracking activities directly beneath homes and schools. Everything our community organization has fought for over the past three years hinges on this crucial hearing.

This is the final opportunity for our community to make its voice heard before Commissioners make a decision whether to deny or approve Sunlight-Long in its current location or move it farther away from neighborhoods.

What’s the threat?

Civitas Resources has been granted exclusive rights to develop hydraulic fracturing wells in a 32,000-acre area east of the Aurora Reservoir known as Lowry Ranch. If fully approved, the total project will result in:

73,000

Tons of air pollutants
including volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

10,000

Households exposed  to increased health risks including asthma, heart disease, and childhood cancer

3.9bn

Gallons of contaminated fresh water
in a state with a severe water crisis
